In considering the placement and design of this new building for the Unitarian Universalist Church of The Brazos Valley (UUCBV), one important goal was to preserve and highlight the site's already existent dense foliage. By carefully selecting the placement of the building to preserve the trees and by thoughtfully capturing the best scenery, we were able to create calming spaces with expansive, restorative views. The resultant spaces create in the user a sense of escape from the hustle and bustle of life to a retreat in the woods, though the building is located in a somewhat hodgepodge commercial district of Bryan, TX.
